Softball: Union County, Banks County split: Dawson County, North Hall, Chestatee knocked out in first round

FRANKLIN — Union County split with Heard County and Banks County split with Bremen Tuesday in first round action of the Class 2A girls softball playoffs.

Meanwhile, North Hall and Dawson County out of Region 7-3A both were swept out of the first round in the Class 3A playoffs.

Union County came in as the No. 4 seed from Region 8-2A while Heard County was the Region 5-2A champion.

The series was moved up a day to beat Hurricane Michael.

The Lady Panthers took Game 1, 6-4, but the Lady Braves rallied for an 8-3 win in Game 2 to force a deciding Game 3 on Wednesday.

First pitch is scheduled for 10 a.m. Wednesday.

The winner will move on to the second round to play the winner of the Washington-Atlanta/Dade County winner next week.

 

BANKS COUNTY   8-4
BREMEN               2-5

Banks County, the No. 2 seed from Region 8-2A slit with 5-2A No. 3 seed Bremen in their opening round macthup.

Banks County took the opening game 8-2 but fell 5-4 in the second game as Bremen forced a deciding Game 3.

 

NORTH HALL, DAWSON COUNTY SWEPT OUT

The two lower seeds out of Region 7-3A found the going tough Tuesday.

North Hall fell to Sonoraville in two games by identical 2-0 scores. The Lady Trojans were the No. 3 seed while Sonoraville was the No. 2 seed out of Region 6-3A.

Dawson County came in as the No. 4 seed but fell to Region 6-3A champion Calhoun, also by idential 2-0 scores, in the first two games.

 

HERITAGE-CATOOSA KNOCKS OUT CHESTATEE

Chestatee, the No. 4 seed from Region 7-4A, was routed by Region 6-4A champion Heritage-Catoosa 11-0 and 16-0 on the road.
