MONTICELLO — The odds were stacking up quickly against Banks County.
But the Leopards were not about to give in -- certainly not Clayton Dykehouse.
The Banks County running back -- forced into playing quarterback on Friday -- keyed a 28-point scoring streak that helped lead the Leopards to a 35-21 comeback win at Monticello.
The Leopards (2-3, 1-0 Region 8-AA) fell behind 14-0 at halftime courtesy an interception return for a score and a touchdown pass for the Hurricanes. But Dykehouse -- pressed into the quarterback spot due to injury to both Banks County's starting and back-up quarterback -- fired right back after interval, rolling up 225 yards rushing and three touchdowns. He also passed for a 50-yard touchdown, hooking up with Terrance Walker for the score.
"It was a huge region win on a long road trip," Banks County coach Josh Shoemaker said. "We showed a lot of fight and heart, and that was great to see."
The Leopards play host to Rabun County next week.
