CARNESVILLE — Habersham Central manufactured plenty of offense but came up a couple of yards short on Friday, falling 46-45 in overtime at Franklin County.
The Raiders (1-2) scored on a Hail Mary at the end of regulation to force the extra period, where the Lions scored first. Habersham answered and elected to attempt a 2-point conversion but came up short.
Habersham quarterback A.J. Curry completed 24 of 42 passes for 356 yards and five touchdowns, along with two interceptions. Jim Barnett caught nine passes for 135 yards and a score.
The Raiders were undone on defense, however, as Franklin quarterback Titlan Wells rushed 27 times for 215 yareds and six scores. Cale Swift also rushed 15 times for 148 yards.
Habersham Central will play host to Stephens County next week.
