Apalachee gets first win in dramatic fashion

By Jeff Hart Sports Reporter

BETHLEHEM — Lorenzo Stephenson scored four touchdowns and converted a game-winning 2-point try to lad Apalachee to a thrilling 29-28 come-from-behind win over Discovery in overtime.

The Wildcats (1-2) trailed 14-7 at halftime and 21-13 in the fourth quarter. But Stephenson scored to cut the lead to 21-19 and AJ Forbing, on the third attempt after both teams traded penalties, converted a 7-yard 2-point try to tie the game and eventually send it to overtime.

Discovery (1-3) scored on its overtime possession but Stephenson scored his fourth touchdown of the game and then gave the Wildcats the victory with a dive up the middle.

Stephenson and Josh Agbenou both finished with over 100 yards rushing for the game for the Wildcats.

Apalachee coach Steve Sims said it was a big moment for his young team.

"The guys have played better with each game and we have a lot of young guys starting so this was a big win for them to see that progress," Sims said. "It's always good to get a win."
