Cross country: GHS boys, White Co. girls win War Eagle Invite

GAINESVILLE — The Gainesville boys and White County girls came away with victories Tuesday at the War Eagle Invite at Chestatee High School.

In the boys race, the Red Elephants, who tallied 87 points, held off North Hall (104) and Dawson County (109) in the 23-team field. In the girls race, White County dominated the field with just 31 points. Dawson County was second with 106 and Hart County third with 112.

In the individual races, Chestatee's Edwin Amaya got the boys win posting 16:45 time to beat Gainesville's Mugisha Bienvenu, who finished second in 16:54. It was a literal sprint to the finish in the girls race with Dawson County's Frankie Muldoon finishing in 19:36 to nip White County's Jaelen Alexander (19:38) at the line.

White County had four runners finish in the top seven and all five of the Lady Warriors' scoring runners finished in the top 12.
