MT. AIRY — The numbers still boggle the mind:
-- 72 points
-- 802 yards of offense
-- 624 yards rushing
In ONE football game -- by ONE team.
Most of the time, those numbers would represent an incredible game if two teams combined to tote them up.
But last Friday night, the Habersham Central offense exploded to put those numbers together in a wild, shootout defeat of East Hall. And the Raiders needed every point and every yard, as the Vikings kept pace with 55 points and 672 yards of their own
With that in mind, Friday Game Night has selected the Habersham Central offensive line as our first Player of the Week selection for the 2017 season.
An experience-laden group, the Raiders' men in the trenches ensured a dominant night for their offense, working together to keep Habersham from experiencing a single negative yardage rushing play.
In the end, two Habersham running backs finished with over 200 yards on the ground, as the team smashed all manner of program records.
Friday Game Night's Morgan Lee recently caught up with members of the group to talk about their big night, their expectations for 2017 and what it's like to enjoy some time in the spotlight rather after doing the dirty work.
