Forsyth County Republican to challenge Woodall for 7th district seat

A Republican from Cumming has announced a run for congress in Georgia's 7th District, challenging incumbent Rob Woodall.

Shane Hazel, a Lawrenceville native, announced his candidacy over the weekend at the Georgia Republican Assembly Convention, according to a press statement.

The paperwork officially cleared Wednesday morning.

Hazel, who describes himself as a "limited government Republican," is a Marine Corps veteran; he's married with three children.

"The Oath I swore to uphold the Constitution means more now than it ever has. Democrats and establishment Republicans have usurped the constraints of the Constitution and arbitrarily grown their power at the expense of all Americans and their inalienable rights, turning a blind eye to the values and principles (citizens) and I share. With a firm reliance on the protection of Divine Providence, I pledge to you my life, my fortune, and my sacred Honor," said Hazel.

You can see his campaign website here.

The 7th District covers large portions of Forsyth and Gwinnett counties.
