Polo Golf & Country Club in Cumming has announced plans for two, open-to-the-public, summer philanthropic events benefiting local charitable organizations.

Both are a part of ClubCorp’s Charity Classic Series which has raised more than $20.3 million over the past 10 years benefiting 100+ national and local charitable organizations.  The Polo Charity Classic Celebration will include Dining with Silent Auction, Saturday, July 29 andGolf Tournament, Saturday, August 12.  They are being held to benefit the following:

*Special Olympics Forsyth County, which provides year-round sports, training, and competition in a variety of Olympic-type sports for over 500 children & adults with intellectual disabilities.

*Augie’s Quest, a fundraising effort focused on finding treatments and cures for ALS by supporting the work of the ALS Therapy Development Institute.

*ClubCorp Employee Partners Care Foundation (E.P.C.F.), a 501(c)3 fund established to help Employee Partners of ClubCorp's family of clubs in need of financial assistance in times of crisis.

“Special Olympics increases community awareness about individuals with developmental disabilities”, said Linda Fitzpatrick, Local Coordinator of Special Olympics Forsyth County.  “Sporting/leisure activities are vital to the success of a young person’s transition to adulthood.  Sport has the power to inspire and unite people in a way that little else can.  These activities combined with community involvement can positively enhance one’s independence, productivity and social skills in the community.”

Augie Nieto, founder of Augie’s Quest and person with ALS says, “The partnership between Augie’s Quest and ClubCorp continues to exceed expectations. Each club’s team works tirelessly on the events and we are so grateful for the continued support.”

“The Polo Charity Classic and its contribution to local charities could not be possible without the hard work and dedication of our club members, employee partners and those in our community who come together to support these very important causes,” said David Bond, General Manager of Polo Golf and Country Club.  “I am so pleased for the support in our community and would like to thank all individuals for participating.”

Both Charity Classic events will be held at Polo Golf and Country Club, 6300 Polo Club Drive, Cumming.  Attendee, player, donor and sponsorship opportunities are still available.  For more information,  visit www.clubcorpcharityclassic.com or contact David Bond, at 470-505-3814
