New principal named for Chicopee Woods Elementary

Chicopee Woods Elementary School officially has a new principal. The Hall County Board of Education unanimously approved the recommendation of Jamie Hitzges at their monthly meeting Monday night.

Hitzges currently serves as an assistant superintendent for the Jackson County School System and has also served as an elementary principal and elementary teacher.

Upon hearing of the board’s approval of his appointment as Chicopee Elementary Principal, Jamie Hitzges remarked, “My greatest joy is to work with children. I look forward to partnering with the teachers of Chicopee Woods to create a meaningful and relevant learning experience for all students.”

Hitzges will replace Lindsey Chatham, who recently resigned to take a job at a school district closer to her home. Chatham was in the position for three years.

He and his wife Laurie have two children, daughter Casey, a junior at the University of West Georgia, and son Colin, a freshman at Georgia Tech. The Hitzges family lives in Braselton.
