CLEVELAND — Austin Sargent and Braxton Nicholson helped the Chestatee baseball team finally make history on Friday.
The pair of senior hurlers pitched complete games as the War Eagles swept a doubleheader from White County 9-1 and 4-1 on the road.
It was the Region 7-AAAA season finale for the War Eagles and the wins pushed Chestatee (11-16, 4-8 in Region 7-AAAA) into third place in the standings. The wins also gauranteed the War Eagles their first-ever state playoff berth in program history.
Chestatee will close out its season next week with a trio of non-region games, starting with a road game at East Jackson on Tuesday. The War Eagles will play host to Lakeview Academy on Wednesday and then entertain Heritage, Conyers on Friday in their season finale.
