JEFFERSON — Jefferson's rough stretch continued Thursday night as the Dragons fell 4-2 to St. Pius in the final game of their three-game Region 8-AAAA series.
The loss dropped Jefferson (15-10, 6-6 Region 8-AAAA) into third place in the region standings, two games behind both Madison County and Oconee County with three games left. It was their fourth loss in their last five games.
Patrick Hickox took the loss giving three runs in the first inning as Jefferson fell behind 4-0. The Dragons chipped away cutting it to 3-1 in the second and 4-2 in the fourth. But they could not get any closer.
Jefferson will open its final series of the regular season on Monday on the road against Madison County.
