Baseball: North Hall sweeps rival East Hall

GAINESVILLE — The North Hall baseball team got a pair of solid pitching performances Tuesday to take a doubleheadr sweep over rival East Hall in Region 7-AAA action at Jody Davis Field.

The Trojans took a 7-3 victory in Game 1 and completed the sweep with a 10-0 win in five innings in Game 2.

Corban Meeler and Austin Adams combined to allow three runs on four hits and struck out seven in the first game. Reese Olson and Taber Mongero combined for a one-hitter while Olson fanned seven in four innings in the second game.

Olson had a big day at the plate with three hits and four RBI in the two games. Mongero two hits and two RBI in the second game and Caleb Clark had two hits in the first game. Drew Hubbard had two hits on the day for North Hall (18-4, 11-0 Region 7-AAA) Adams, Josh Mancin, Jackson Latty, John Mark Montgomery, and Dylan Lavender each had one hit on the day for the Trojans.

The defense let down the Vikings (8-12, 2-9) in the first game as four of the runs were unearned. Luke Holtzclaw and Trey Campbell yielded just four hits in 4 2/3 innings combined but also walked eight. Trevor Rider had two hits and T.J. Smith had two RBI for East Hall in the first game.

Holtzclaw had the lone hit for East Hall in the second game. Isaac Buffington and Smith were roughed up for 10 runs on nine hits and walked nine in in five innings.

The two teams will finish their three-game series on Friday at East Hall Park.
