GAINESVILLE — Lakeview Academy earned its first Region 8-A win of the season with an 8-1 win over cross-town rival Riverside Military Academy Wednesday.
The win snapped an eight game losing streak for the Lions (4-13, 1-3 Region 8-A).
Josh Henderson got the win on the mound for Lakeview with a complete-game three-hitter. He fanned seven, walked none, and worked around three Lakeview errors as well.
Bailey Whitlock led an 11-hit attack with three hits, two RBI, and he scored twice. Sam Stewart had two hits scored two runs for Lakeview. Jordan Thomas had two hits and Brannon Browner had a hit and one RBI for the Lions.
Lakeview next will travel to Mount Vernon on Saturday.
Riverside (3-13, 1-5) had lost six straight. The Eagles are off until April 11 when they will play host to Prince Avenue Christian.
