MONTGOMERY, Ala. — The third-ranked University of North Georgia baseball team was dominant in their midweek road matchup at Auburn Montgomery, taking down the Warhawks, 16-0. The Nighthawks move to 17-4 on the season with the victory, extending their season-long winning streak to seven.
The UNG offense broke the game wide open in the top of the third scoring seven runs on six hits and an AUM error that was all sparked by a Connor Hoover leadoff homer to center. The Nighthawks would load the bases in the top of the fifth and score another two runs on a fielder's choice and a wild pitch, to extend their lead to 9-0.
Trevor Sams went yard in the top of the seventh to give North Georgia a double-digit lead and the Nighthawks went on to score another five runs in the eighth on just two hits with the help of a walk, two hit batsmen, and an AUM throwing error.
Joshua Profit scored the final run of the game for UNG in the ninth on a sacrifice fly off the bat of Devin Gearhart.
The Nighthawks will head to Carrollton on Wednesday to take on West Georgia. First pitch is set for 5 p.m.
