CLEVELAND — After finishing runner-up at the Mid-South Conference/NAIA East Regional Qualifier, Truett McConnell wrestler Jeff Chandler will go to Topeka, Kan., to compete for a national championship at 285 pounds starting on March 3. The 60th annual NAIA Championship is being hosted by USA Wrestling-Kansas.
Chandler ran through the regional, defeating his first two opponents by fall, before knocking off the No. 1 seed by a 5-3 decision in the semifinals to qualify for the National Tournament. He was also named Second Team All-MSC as the runner-up.
Chandler will have some tough competition in the weight class, going up against 22 other heavyweights in the tournament, including last year's national champion, Dean Broghammer of Grand View.
