This week represented a historical moment for the Truett McConnell University men's soccer program, the athletic department, and the university. For the first time since the school had transitioned to a four-year institution, one of its athletic teams was ranked in an NAIA national poll. When the poll was released the Bears had built an impressive resume, beating multiple ranked teams and posting a 9-1-1 record.
This feat is due in large part to the coaching staff of the soccer program, headed up by Coach Rob Miller. Miller expressed his excitement and pride in his team saying, "It's a great achievement by this program! To make school history by being the first team to ever be nationally ranked as a 4 year institution is something we are proud about!"
This historic achievement also brought praise from new Athletic Director John Garvilla. "Congratulations Coach Miller, Coach Antoniewicz, Coach Hurst and our Men's Soccer student athletes in making TMU Athletics history by becoming the first nationally ranked program since university became a four year institution," said Garvilla. "The staff and our student athletes are an inspiration to all our programs as we strive to develop a nationally recognized Athletics program."
