HELEN — Helen city leaders took a moment this week to remember a former longtime public works employee.
John Dennis “Denny” Rhoday, 74, of Helen, died Jan. 30.
"All of us had a good friend, Dennis Rhoday, pass away," said Commissioner Jeff Ash during this week's city commission meeting.
Rhoday worked for the Helen Public Works Department for a little more than 17 years.
Born in Marion, Ind., he was an avid golfer.
"Dennis has been here 45 years, worked for the city, and he had his golfing crowd during the week and he had his drinking buddies from 4 o'clock on," Ash said. "That was Dennis' lifestyle, and he will really be remembered."
Memorial services will be announced later by Barrett Funeral Home of Cleveland.
