Lakeview Academy performing arts students recently accomplished something no other Class A school in the state has done – winning the Georgia High School Association State One-Act Play Competition five years in a row.
More than 40 cast and crew members, under the direction of drama performances director Cece Conrath, took home the state championship title again for their award-winning performance of “9-5.”
“We are so excited to have represented our school and Region so well at the Class A State One-Act Play competition. It is such an honor to be named State Champions again,” said Cece Conrath, Drama Performances Director. “Our students, faculty and parents work incredibly hard, and we all are bonded together in a special way by the end of a show.”
Previous award-winning shows by Lakeview include “The Wedding Singer” in 2013, “The Addams Family” in 2014, “Catch Me if You Can” in 2015 and “13, The Musical” in 2016.
According to Conrath, much of Lakeview’s success on stage is a result of the value the school places on the importance of the arts and valuing creativity and self-expression in its educational programming. The arts enhance students’ learning in all other academic areas by allowing students the opportunity to expand their intellect through creative thought and expression.
