HOMER — Banks County could not find a way past Elbert County this time.
The Leopards traveled to Elberton last season and pulled off a huge road win to clinch the No. 2 seed for the state playoffs -- only to watch the Blue Devils return the favor this time around.
Elbert County notched a 43-22 victory in Homer that dropped Banks County to the No. 3 seed from Region 8-AA.
Terrance Walker did his best to notch the program's second straight home playoff berth, rushing 13 times for 186 yards and two scores, while Jacob Lehotsky added 12 carries for 59 yards and a touchdown. But the Leopards could not slow the Blue Devils offense in the second half, as the visitors pulled away just before the interval, turning a 29-22 advantage to a 43-22 lead halfway through the third quarter.
Banks County will travel to Pepperell in the first round of the playoffs next week.
