COMMERCE — Commerce dropped a defensive slugfest with Athens Academy on Friday, falling 22-7 in Commerce.
The Spartans hit two first half field goals for the only scoring before the interval and then responded when the Tigers scored to pull within 12-7 in the third quarter.
Commerce (7-2, 6-2 Region 8-A) got its only score of the night from Caleb Mason, who broke loose for a 12-yard touchdown run with 1:43 remaining in the third quarter.
The Tigers close out the regular season at George Walton Academy next week and are in position to continue their season in teh Class A Public playoffs.
