MT. AIRY — Prep football fans throughout northeast Georgia already knew AJ Curry was an explosive athlete with unlimited potential.
As he's shown this campaign, those are qualities that translate well to the quarterback position.
Curry, who moved from Stephens County receiver to Habersham Central quarterback this offseason, has lit up opposing defenses in 2017, posting over 2,000 yards passing and almost 800 yards rushing while also tallying 23 total touchdowns. In fact, his abilities have helped the Raiders to post the seventh-highest scoring offense in all of Class AAAAAA.
And while that has not translated into a mountain of wins it has certainly helped keep Habersham in the hunt -- the Raiders are 1-7 but have lost all seven by a combined 25 points (3.1 points per game). Most importantly, they are still alive for a playoff berth. And, with Curry at the helm, certainly anything is possible for Habersham.
The dual-threat -- who has already landed five scholarship offers with several more colleges interested -- hopes to finish strong and show just why his natural abilities -- which have only begun to shine -- make him one of the most explosive quarterbacks in northeast Georgia and the state.
