Free Children’s Fun Festival set 5-8 p.m. today at Habersham County Fairgrounds

CLARKESVILLE — Thousands of people from across North Georgia are expected to join the fun at the Habersham County Fairgrounds near Clarkesville later today, Oct. 19.

In its 11th year, Habersham E-9-1-1 Children’s Fun Festival is organized by dispatchers at Habersham County E-9-1-1 so they can meet and give back to the community they serve, while providing important safety information.

This year's free event will feature trunk or treat, hayrides, helicopters, mascots and clowns, animal attractions, wrestling exhibitions, interactive exhibits, community partners, simulators and more.

Children and their parents will be able to visit booths inside the Dewey H. Tench Market Pavilion at the fairgrounds, where they can pause for pictures with mascots and talk with firefighters, law enforcement personnel, 9-1-1 dispatchers, and paramedics.

Costumes are welcome, and families are encouraged to bring their cameras.

Children will have opportunities to check out emergency vehicles, as well as visiting with mascots and public safety personnel.

A highlight of the event will be the opportunity for families to Dunk a Hero in the dunking booth. The tentative schedule is as follows:

  • 5:30 p.m. — Sgt. Matt Nall of Tallulah Falls Police Department;
  • 5:45 p.m. — Chief Charlie Webb of Baldwin Police Department;
  • 6 p.m. — Habersham County Sheriff’s Office SRO Murray Kogod;

Parking will begin at 4:30 p.m. in the parking lot on the Little League side of the fairgrounds complex. Gates open at 5 p.m. No early admission allowed.
