Gainesville needed this one -- bad.
And when it looked as if it was slipping away, Tre Luttrell stepped forward and helped the Red Elephants secure it.
Luttrell passed for 266 yards, rushed for 160 and racked up three total touchdowns to help Gainesville seal a 30-27 comeback win over Habersham Central on Friday. The junior signal caller was one of a number of heroes on the night for the Red Elephants, who also got three field goals -- including the game-winner -- from Christian Jaimes and a huge catch and run from Trey Blackwell to help tie the contest inside the final minutes.
But it was Luttrell's return as starting quarterback that helped Gainesville regain its potency in attack and halt a four-game losing skid.
And for his efforts, Luttrell has been named the Friday Game Night, Coca-Cola United Bottling Player of the Week.
After missing several non-region games through injury, Luttrell is looking to get Gainesville rolling in Region 8-AAAAAA, and Friday represents another huge opportunity to do so against defending champ Dacula on the road.
