By AccessWDUN

CLEVELAND — The Truett McConnell men's basketball team finished its best single month in school history with an 83-74 win over Milligan Saturday afternoon in the Bear Cave.

The Bears finished the month of January with an 8-2 record, beating out the previous best month, January of 2015, where the Bears were 7-2.

The Bears led for all but 1:18 and never trailed in the contest. TMU led by 22 at the half before Milligan made the game interesting.

Putting the full court pressure on, the Buffaloes were able to take advantage of turnovers from the Bears to cut the lead down to as few as six at 75-69, but the Bears were able to knock down free throws and withstand pressure late to earn the win.

David Campbell led the way for TMU with 21 points on 8-for-19 shooting. Kai Lambert finished with 15 points, eight rebounds and seven assists, while Jacob Booke and Christian Davis added 13 and 10, respectively.

The Bears will look to capture their season's longest winning streak when they travel to Montreat on Wednesday. Tip time is set for 7:30 p.m. in North Carolina.
