Hall County Democratic Party elects new officers

The local Hall County Democrats elected a full slate of officers and committee members at a meeting in Gainesville Monday night.

Kim Copeland of Gainesville will serve as the Chair for the local party, while Angela Middleton of Gainesville - a candidate for Hall County Commission District 4 in last November's election - was elected as 1st Vice Chairman. Other officers include Andy Colanino of Flowery Branch, 2nd Vice-Chair and Parliamentarian, Sheila Belton of Gainesville, Treasurer and Fran Watkins of Gainesville, Secretary.

Elected to fill three Democratic Party of Georgia State Committee seats were Will Stump of Clermont, Vice President of Young Democrats of Hall County; Michelle Jones of Buford, a candidate for House District 30 in the November elections; and Jackie Sosby of Gainesville.
 
Sheila Nicholas, the chair of the Hall County Democratic Committee for the past two years, resigned prior to the elections because she is moving to Michigan.  Gabe Shippy, the coordinator for the Young Democrats of the North Georgia area, also resigned his committee seat.
 
Cody Case of Oakwood and Leigh Miller of Flowery Branch were elected to fill the vacancies from the resignations in District 2, Post 1 and At-Large, Post 4, for the remaining two years in the terms.
