WEST POINT — The Truett McConnell women's soccer team led after one half of play against Point University, but the Skyhawks scored late in regulation and right away in overtime on their way to a 2-1 win. The Bears fell to 3-4 and 0-2 in league play with the loss.
The Bears scored in the 18th minute when Paige Williams took a pass from Quiara Gebauer and found the back of the net to take a 1-0 lead through most of the contest.
Point found an equalizer in the 77th minute on a Taylor Beasley goal that ended up sending the match into overtime. The Skyhawks won the game on a Celly Ruiz golden goal in the 93rd minute.
TMU will get back on the pitch on Saturday against Union as part of the #BearBash on Truett McConnell's campus. Volleyball matches will start at 11 a.m. with the soccer doubleheader against Union starting at 2 p.m. at the TMU Soccer Complex.
