University of North Georgia freshman Olivia Dumphy was named the Peach Belt Conference Defender of the Week, the league announced on Tuesday afternoon. Dumphy scored her first two goals as a Nighthawk in the first half of UNG's 6-0 win over Converse on Saturday.
The Dawsonville native also helped anchor the tough North Georgia backline that allowed only six shots by its opponents last weekend in back-to-back shutouts. Dumphy's two goals are second best on the team and tied for third in the PBC after the first week of action.
The Nighthawks will hit the road this week for the first time in 2016, heading to Hickory, N.C., to take on Lenoir-Rhyne on Wednesday, Sept. 7, at 5 p.m.
