A single-vehicle wreck in Habersham County claimed the life of a Clarkesville woman and seriously injured her young daughter Sunday afternoon.
A silver Toyota 4-Runner driven by Jordan Frankum, 28, was traveling southbound on Ga. 365 in the left lane, negotiating a right curve, said Sgt. D.F. Lunsford of Georgia State Patrol Post 7 in Toccoa.
"The driver allowed the vehicle to travel onto the edge of the roadway, where she over-steered to the right," Lunsford said by email. "The vehicle traveled back into the left lane where the driver over-steered back to the left losing control."
The vehicle rotated counterclockwise, exited the roadway and traveled into the median, where it struck a drainage culvert and overturned.
The vehicle continued to overturn while exiting the median and crossing the northbound lanes of Ga. 365 before coming to rest on the east shoulder of the roadway facing north, Lunsford said.
Frankum's front seat passenger, Irys Frankum, 9, suffered serious injuries during the crash and was transported to Children's Healthcare of Atlanta.
