BLAIRSVILLE — The Union County offense feasted on the Hayesville, N.C., defense on Friday night in Blairsville -- in historic proportions.
The Panthers set a new program record for points scored in a single game in a 61-7 win.
Union County largely played its junior varsity in the second half thanks to the early work of its starters. Running back Bo Lynch helped cap the early explosion, scoring three touchdowns, while the Panthers (2-0) also blocked a punt and recovered it in the end zone for a score.
Quarterback Cole Wright also tossed two touchdown passes before Union County emptied its bench.
Union County travels to Andrews, N.C., next week.
