West Hall shuts down Washington-Wilkes, 10-0

By AccessWDUN Staff

WASHINGTON — West Hall is starting to build a reputation for its defense this season.

The Spartans put together perhaps their most convincing performance of the season so far on Friday, blanking Washington-Wilkes 10-0 in Washington behind four interceptions and a stingy run defense.

"Washington-Wilkes is very talented; this was a very good win for us. We worked hard at practice this week and it showed tonight," said West Hall coach Tony Lotti, whose defense held the Tigers to less than one yard rushing in the first half.

Meanwhile, the Spartans pass defense was also air-tight, as TK Hendix picked off two Washington-Wilkes passes. George Lira and Justin Hearn also notched interceptions.

The West Hall offense featured a four-yard touchdown run from Tyrese Osborne for a 7-0 first half lead. Israel Lopez tacked on a 40-yard field goal in the third quarter for insurance, as the Spartans (2-1) rolled to 383 yards of offense and 21 first downs -- compared with just four for the Tigers.

West Hall travels to face Jackson County next week.
