Mill Creek cruises past Stephenson, 32-7

By AccessWDUN Staff

HOSCHTON — Mill Creek picked up its second win of a young campaign on Friday, 32-7 over Stephenson -- and the Hawks did it without ever really shifting into top gear.

Mill Creek jumped out to a 19-0 first half lead on the strength of touchdown runs from Anthony Presto, a Brenton King field goal and a safety, taking control of the contest.

Joe Thomas paced the Hawks (2-0) with 29 yards rushing on 10 carries, as Mill Creek racked up 103 yards on 34 carries. Meanwhile quarterback Cameron Turley completed 18 of 35 passes for 150 yards and a touchdown -- a 16-yard strike to Jack Plummer in the third quarter.

Plummer's catch, along with King's second and third field goals of the night, answered Stephenson's only score of the night, which had hauled the visitors within 19-7 early in the third quarter.

Meanwhile, Edmond Graham tied a Mill Creek record during the contest, blocking his second field goal attempt of the season -- which gave him five career blocks to equal the program record.

The Hawks will play host to rical Dacula next week.
