SUGAR HILL — Lanier football put together an impressive first half en route to a 34-13 season-opening win over Northview on Friday in Sugar Hill.

Marcko Baity paced the Longhorns (1-0) on offense, rushing 34 times for 268 yards and 3 touchdowns. Lanier quarterback Noah Fritz added two more scores, tossing a 14-yard touchdown pass to Tywon Reaves and also running in from a yard out.

The Longhorns sprinted to a 27-0 halftime lead -- but did not maintain that pace in the second half as it finished with four turnovers.

"We played really in the first half, but we did not play that well in the second half," Longhorns coach Korey Mobbs said. "It gives us some things to worik on."

Lanier will travel to face South Gwinnett next week.
