It's not actual high school football games, but it's about as close as you can get, and they start tonight throughout the state and northeast Georgia.
Scrimmages take programs one step closer to the kickoff of the 2016 campaign, and there are several scheduled for this weekend before a big slate gets underway next weekend (NOTE: See below for a full schedule of area scrimmages).
With the season now just two weeks away, there is not much time left to evaluate and correct before the results count. But that is exactly what area teams are feverishly attempting.
The countdown is also on for AccessWDUN's 2016 season preview and the return of Friday Game Night, which will re-launch on Monday, Aug. 15 -- the opening week of high school football. In it we will bring you previews from 30 area programs, preview the new schedules and regions put in place this offseason, the new coaches taking over, big-time players to watch and the can't-miss games of the upcoming campaign.
