Several school clusters in the northern portion of Gwinnett County will look a bit different as students return to school, with new district lines affecting schools in the Lanier, Mill Creek and Mountain View clusters.
31 schools across the county, along with 6,800 students, will be affected by the new lines, which were put in motion to accomodate two new schools in the Duluth cluster.
A portion of Suwanee, south of Woodward Mill Road, that used to feed North Gwinnett High School will now feed Sugar Hill Elementary and Lanier Middle and High. The districts for White Oaks and Syacamore Elementary schools remain unchanged.
In Buford, the Mill Creek and Mountain View districts were re-drawn for residents west of I-85. Students who lived south of Ga. 20, between I-85 and I-985 are now in the Mountain View cluster; they will attend Patrick Elementary and Twin Rivers Middle school.
Residents north of Ga. 20, but generally east of South Bogan Road, will still attend Patrick Elementary, but will then move on to Twin Rivers Middle and Mountain View High. A section of housing off of Hamilton Mill Road, including Preserve Walk Court will remain in the Mill Creek cluster, but will now attend Harmony Elementary.
The border of I-85, north of Puckets Mill Road, is now part of the Ivy Creek Elementary district, but will remain in the Mill Creek cluster as well.
The Puckets Mill, Fort Daniel and Duncan Creek Elementary districts remain unchanged in the Mill Creek cluster.
The remainder of the Mountain View cluster was not changed.
