In the second annual "Best U.S. Cities for K-12 Teachers" report released recently by college and careers website GoodCall, Cornelia and Toccoa were named among the best places in the country for teachers to live and work.
Cornelia was ranked #49 and Toccoa #93. According to GoodCall, nearly 1,000 cities were analyzed for the report. Othere Georgia cities that made the list are Bainbridge (#15 and the only city in the state to make the Top 20), Calhoun, Waycross, Douglas, Brunswick, St. Mary's, and Athens-Clarke County.
Cities were ranked on four criteria:
*Affordability - Local teacher salaries weighed with local housing costs
*Job Competition - Current open teacher job positions weighed with the number of resumes
posted for hire
*School Ratings - Ratings for school districts within each metro area
*Lifestyle - The number of local restaurant, arts and entertainment amenities per capita
