Fathers Day is usually a busy time for families, but it's not the only thing that was going on over the weekend.
The 16th-annual North Georgia Folk Potters Festival was held Saturday in Homer. This year, the event was moved to a gymnasium at the Banks County Recreation Department and drew potters from around the region.
Organizer Steve Turpin said the event draws people from three to five hours away for a chance to purchase pottery from 40 potters.
Proceeds raised through drawings and sale of concessions at this year's show will benefit the youth sports programs of the Banks County Recreation Department.
Also on Saturday, motorcyclists gathered in Maysville for the WININ Georgia Benefit Ride to benefit an area law enforcement officer who needs help while recovering from an injury.
The ride began at City Slickers Cycle Shop in Maysville, traveled to Appalachian Armory in Dawsonville, where a drawing was held for a firearm, then continued to A&E Grill in Clarkesville for lunch.
