Recently-released figures show that there are 91 active primary care physicians per 100,000 people in the U.S., a ratio that is proving worrisome to many healthcare experts. According to a report from the Association of American Medical Colleges (AAMC), the U.S. will face a shortage of physicians over the next decade if several changes to the current system are not made.
Dr. Janis M. Orlowsky, the Chief Healthcare Officer for the AAMC who primarily focuses on the interface between the healthcare delivery system and academic medicine, joined the Afternoon News Wrap this week to discuss how this shortage could affects Georgians, and how it can be avoided.
