MONROE — North Hall held off a late charge by Monroe Area to take a 7-6, Region 8-AAAA win Wednesday night on the road.
The Trojans (11-4, 6-0 Region 8-AAAA) opened with a five-run first and then took a 7-4 lead after the top of the fifth inning. The Hurricanes scored single runs in the fifth and sixth to pull within a run but Reece Olson held them scoreless in the seventh to finish off a three-inning save for starter Drew Atha, who got the win going four innings allowing four runs on 10 hits.
Seven different players got one hit each for North Hall. Jackson Latty and Jake Chester each had two RBI for the Trojans.
North Hall plays host to Stephens County on Friday to open a home-and-home series with the Indians.
