GAINESVILLE — Chestatee completed the season sweep of Johnson in Region 8-AAAA with a 15-3 win in five innings Friday at War Eagle Field.
The War Eagles (5-8, 2-2 Region 8-AAAA) used a pair of six-run innings in the second and fourth innings. They led 7-0 when Johnson (1-13, 0-4) cut the lead to 7-2 in the top of the third. Chestatee answered with two runs in the bottom of the inning but Johnson trimmed the lead to 9-3 in the top of the fourth.
The War Eagles made it a 15-3 lead with six more in the bottom of the fourth and then retired the Knights in the top of the fifth to invoke the Mercy Rule.
Chestatee pounded out 14 hits, including 12 singles and two doubles.
Austin Sargent had four hits and three RBI, Cameron Wilson added three hits ansd three RBI, and Kyle Garrett had two hits and scored three times for the War Eagles. Mikey Petraroi and Reggie James each had two hits for Chestatee.
