GAINESVILLE — Riverside Military Academy snapped a three-game losing streak with a wild 8-7 win over Rabun County in eight innings Tuesday in Region 8-AA action at Katterjohn Field.
The lead changed hands seven times with the Eagles (5-4, 2-3 Region 8-AA) taking the final lead when a fielder's choice scored James Basham in the bottom of the eighth inning.
Basham had four hits for Riverside. Basham, Watson Thomas, and Jack Sullivan combined for 11 hits and six RBI for the Eagles.
Alex Kerns got the win in relief for the Riverside pitching four innings and allowing just one run.
Rabun County (2-8, 1-2) took a quick 4-0 lead in the first but could not hold on. Riverside chipped away until finally winning it in the eighth.
Rabun County next will play host to Rabun Gap-Nacoochee on Thursday.
Riverside next will travel to Social Circle on Friday for a Region 8-AA doubleheader.
