Habitat for Humanity of Hall County plans the dual dedication of the first two homes in its new subdivision Thursday, March 17, at noon.
This marks the completion of houses 52 and 53 for Habitat Hall. They are the first of 21 to be built in Copper Glen, which is located at 3678 Baker Road, Gainesville.
In a press release, Executive Director Ann Nixon said “This is the realization of dreams coming true - not just for our Homeowner Partners, but for Habitat Hall as well. Countless donors and volunteers have come forward to make this subdivision a reality. We are profoundly thankful at this joyous time.”
The two new houses will belong to the families of Courtney Young and Jujuan Johnson. Both women have been working to fulfill their responsibilities to Habitat Hall for almost two years, according to the release. That includes contributing a minimum of 300 hours in sweat equity, completing financial education courses, and paying their closing costs. The homeowners are fully vetted to ensure that they can afford the addition of taking on a 20 year, 0% interest mortgage.
