JEFFERSON — Three Jackson County pitchers combined for a three-hitter in leading the Panthers to a 3-1 victory over Athens Christian Saturday.
Tyler Barber got the win going four innings yielding all three hits and just one run while striking out two. He retired first the nine batters he faced.
Coleman Barbee pitched two inninhs fanning five without giving up a hit and Chris Griggs pitched a pwerfect seventh striking out two to earn his first save of the season.
The Panthers (3-3-1) scored two runs in the first and one in the second to grab a quick lead. Athens Christian scored its only run in the fourth.
Tyler Sartain had a hit and scored a run. Joel Ellis had a hit and one RBI and Andrew Miller had a hit for the Panthers.
Jackson County next will travel to Oconee County on Tuesday in its Region 8-AAA opener.
