By Associated Press

LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. (AP) A  judge has sentenced a Gwinnett County man to life in prison without parole in the 2011 death of his wife.

Local news media report that Gwinnett County Superior Court Judge Randy Rich sentenced Matthew Leili in the murder of his 44-year-old wife Nique Leili, a mother of three. Leili was found in a wooded area after she was reported missing on July 11, 2011.

It wasn't until 2015 that Matthew Leili was charged after police say new evidence emerged that indicated his involvement in her death.

Matthew Leili was found guilty for murder, felony murder, aggravated assault with an object, and three counts of unlawful eavesdropping and surveillance.

After the sentence, Matthew Leili denied killing his wife and said he would file an appeal.
