The Gainesville Kiwanis Club will again sponsor the local tribute to STAR Students and STAR Teachers from Hall County and Gainesville.
This year’s event will be February 23 at noon in the banquet hall at First Baptist Church. Each of the city and county high schools’ STAR Students and STAR Teachers will be recognized and given a framed certificate. In addition, the System STAR Students and STAR Teachers will be announced for the city system and the county system.
The finalists and their selected teachers are:

The PAGE Student Teacher Achievement Recognition (STAR) program, now in its 58th year, is sponsored, administered, and promoted by the Professional Association of Georgia Educators (PAGE) Foundation. Since its inception, the STAR program has honored more than 25,500 students and the teachers they have selected as having had the most influence on their academic achievement.
To obtain the STAR nomination, high school seniors must have the highest score on a single test date on the three-part SAT and be in the top 10 percent or top 10 students of their class based on grade point average.
