AUGUSTA — University of North Georgia infielder Erick Delgado has been named the first Peach Belt Conference AstroTurf Player of the Week for the 2016 season. The newcomer from Hialeah, Florida picked up the start in the eight-hole at second base in both games against Valdosta State last Saturday.
Delgado picked up a single and scored a run in North Georgia's first season-opening win since 2011, a 4-3 victory over the Blazers. The rookie picked up another single and a walk in the second game of the twin bill.
The Nighthawks will host Carson-Newman in a three-game set this weekend at Bob Stein Stadium in Dahlonega. First pitch on Friday is set for 3 p.m.
