Richard B. Russell Scenic Highway in Union County remains closed at last report because of a wildfire - dubbed the Bad Santa Fire - in the area of the Raven Cliffs Wilderness.
The Union County Fire and Rescue Department said in a Friday evening social media post the fire grew to 435 acres, but it remains within containment lines.
Officials said the fire is was burning in a very steep, rough area with a number of rock cliffs. No structures were in danger, according to the statement.
The fire was sparked by a car accident in the area Friday morning.
