North Georgia Congressman Doug Collins has made a decision to run for vice-chairman of the House Republican Conference, according to an article on the political website The Hill.
The article said Collins, who is from Gainesville, made the decision after Donald Trump's election on Tuesday.
Also seeking the position is Congressman Bill Flores of Texas.
“This is not about me and Bill Flores. This is about our message to the public who will be looking at us with new eyes,” Collins told the publication. “I want to see us succeed in this new administration. This is a new opportunity.”
Collins, first elected in 2012, has served on the Judiciary and Rules Committees.
House Republicans will vote on their internal leadership positions on Tuesday.
