Suwanee considers redesign of city website

SUWANEE — City leaders in Suwanee are considering an overhaul of the city's website in an effort not only to update the technology, but also make it more mobile friendly.

"We're going about it in a methodical way of cleaning up what we currently have so we don't move all of (it) to the new website," said Marty Allen, city manager.

The entire transition process is expected to take eight months or more.

The current website was launched in 1998, and it was updated into a more modern design in 2000.

"We've been working off that same website and building on it, really since that time (2000). So it's time for a spring cleaning," said Allen.

The effort will likely include a mobile app component. The city already has an app, but it doesn't serve as a reflection of the website, though it does include a gateway to a condensed version of the website.

Suwanee recently launched a new budget website as well.
