UNG cross country wraps 2016 with 5th place finish at NCAA Regional

MONTEVALLO, Ala. — The University of North Georgia women's cross country team wrapped up its 2016 season with a fifth place finish at the NCAA Division II Southeast Regional Saturday at the University of Montevallo. Senior Brittany Truitt finishes her standout career with a USTFCCA All-Region performance finishing 16th individually with a 22:12.91.

Makayla Ellis was the next quickest Nighthawk coming in at 33rd with a 22:56.64. Caitlin Connell was not far behind finishing with a 23:23.13 good enough for 47th. Lacy Ellenburg (23:34.38) and Jenna Tilton (23:41.08) rounded out the team scoring in 55th and 61st, respectively.

North Georgia finished with a total time of 1:55:48.14, and average of 23:09.63 for 80 points, 10 points behind fourth place Anderson. Montevallo, Queens (N.C.), and Wingate finished first, second, and third, respectively, to each punch their tickets to the NCAA National Championship Meet.
