UNG women's soccer runs past No. 13 Georgia College, 2-1

By UNG Athletics Communications

DAHLONEGA — After No. 13 Georgia College leveled the match in the 66th minute, Renee VanHorn found the back of the net 10 minutes later to give the University of North Georgia women's soccer team a 2-1 win Wednesday evening.

The Nighthawks struck early as Taylor Malasek intercepted a Bobcat pass and took the ball to the top of the box. She fired left of the Bobcat goalie and scored her fourth goal of the season to give UNG an early lead.

Georgia College answered in the 66th minute with a goal by Sofia Lekas off a UNG turnover, but the Nighthawks didn't let the goal deter them from continuing to push forward as VanHorn slipped behind the Bobcat defense off an Asa Thorsen cross and found the game winner.
